40-50 electives

You can choose between 40-50 elective courses, all of which are included in the tuition fee.

You choose different electives on Mondays and Fridays in five periods in the fall and spring. Some of them are three hours long, others a whole day. Of course, you are free to choose whether you want to learn something new or do more of what you are already most passionate about. In this way, you put together your own year.

The elective courses offered will naturally vary somewhat from year to year, depending on the number of students, the composition of the teaching staff, and the interests of the student body. We hope you understand this.

40-50 electives

Ball game
There's nothing quite like a hard-fought ball game with good teammates. You'll get plenty of them in this subject, whether you're most passionate about volleyball, futsal, basketball, floorball or other ball activities. 

Band / Vocals
You will interact with others on instruments or vocals within a traditional pop/rock ensemble. The instruments are free to use during your free time. Maybe there will be a mini-concert for you too?

Barista
In the school's own small coffee shop you can learn more about the process from coffee bean to cup. There will be time for espresso-based drinks, hand-brewed coffee, Latte Art and a visit to a coffee roaster.

Chasing Light
You will learn compositional and photographic techniques to take better pictures. You will work on subject selection and various techniques. Topics will be nature photography, sports, portraits, fashion photography and foreground/background.

Dance
The school has many enthusiastic dancers. In this elective you can practice steps, learn new movements and experience the joy of dancing. There will be classes with different dance styles such as hip hop/funk and jazz/contemporary.

Movie classics
You will watch selected film classics from different genres and eras. Afterwards, you will discuss the content, themes, and film language with your classmates and discover that you will see films in a new way next time.

Soccer
Get ready for a class with high tempo, hard tackles, playful details and quick tricks. The session consists of some practice and a lot of playing. Teacher Per Bernt has experience from 1st division games.

Outdoor activities/sailing
Here you will sail some of the days. Other days you can climb, kayak, go hiking or cook on a campfire. This course is for those who want to experience more of the mountains and sea of ​​Sunnmøre.

Guitar
The course is for both beginners and advanced students. Here you will learn key chords and how chords are built. The teacher is a top Norwegian all-singing guitarist – you won't find a better teacher.

Golf – level 1
The course is mainly for those who want to take the “Road to Golf” course. Here we learn about the rules and practice techniques (grip, swing and setup) on the driving range, putting green and the local course.

Golf – level 2
This is for those of you who have played before. Here you work on swing, close play, putting and game understanding. You play on the 9-hole course at Sunnmøre GK and on the club's new simulator.

Heartwarming
Test out if this is something you want to work with in the future! You meet people from different backgrounds, visit the elderly and have programs together with refugees and single asylum seekers.

Dormitory food
Learn delicious dishes for student life. Here you can pick up good dinner tips. You cook according to the principle of healthy-tasty-cheap. After the course, you can impress as a chef for everyday life and parties.

Improvisation / Stage
You will play and laugh, improvise and dramatize. You will learn basic rules where both actors and audience play an active role. NB: You should not take yourself too seriously!

Innovation / Design
The Maker House is for those who like to explore, create, develop, share ideas, build, test, fix and prototype. Here you will find 3D printers, laser cutters, electronics labs, VR glasses and robots. 

From Farm to Table
Join us for a little more culinary experience. There will be fruit and berry harvesting, fermentation, pickling, fish processing, and meat cutting. It all ends with making a delicious kombucha drink.  

Climbing – level 1
Climbing in a climbing hall, on an outdoor climbing area or on bouldering rocks. The goal is basic belaying and movement techniques. Preparations will be made to go up to the steep card test.

Climbing / bouldering – level 2
In a new climbing hall and bouldering hall you will work on movement technique and balance. You will climb outside on some of the many sports fields with a focus on leadership. The teacher himself maintains a sky-high level.

Making a knife
You get to design your own knife handle, customize and shape it to fit the blade, and finally make a leather sheath that fits the finished knife.

Resting heart rate
Sometimes the world moves too fast. Then it's a good idea to learn how to slow down. Here there will be varied sessions with yoga, spa, knitting, campfire, painting, music, massage, pool and good food.

Longboard workshop
Make your own longboard. You press and glue together veneers to form a board. Then the design process begins in terms of form, expression and function – and finally the use of varnish and paint.

Paint
You paint on canvas with acrylic paint. You work with picture composition, use of color, printing techniques, handling of tools, collage and decoupage, your own creativity and simple Photoshop.

Food on the fire
Fancy pizza cooked on a fire in a pot of sand? Or lamb leg cooked in a cooking pit half a meter underground? Or maybe tenderloin wrapped in dough and roasted right on the fire?

Max pulse
A practical subject where you learn to lead a fitness class for groups. You choose your own specialization: spinning, strength or combination classes such as step/strength. Free fitness center 50 m from the school.

MMA / Close Combat / Self-Defense
You will learn basic fighting techniques, tactics and self-defense. You will develop strength, agility and self-confidence through sparring with a former professional MMA fighter in his gym.

Parkour / Gymnastics
Your new playground is in a brand new gym with tumbling mats, trampolines and a foam pit. Here you can practice new tricks with an instructor who has been to the top of Norway in parkour.

Piano
You will receive piano instruction with an emphasis on fingering. There are many pianos at the school, both electric and acoustic. This means you can continue practicing long after the lesson is over.

PR / Social Media
You learn to create content and strategy for social media. You work with your school or course's profile. You film, take pictures, write posts and create engaging content from your everyday life.

Racket mix
Here you can play padel, squash, pickleball, badminton and table tennis. This is perfect for those who love racket sports but don't want to choose just one. Two squash courts are available for free use during your free time.

Random
This is the course for those who love summit tours on skis or snowboards. During the winter/spring you will hike a number of famous, sharp and spectacular peaks in the Sunnmøre Alps – as long as conditions permit.

Redesign
You start the course with a visit to a thrift store. Here you buy garments and used clothes that you then design and sew into your own, new clothes. You can also work with furniture, lamps and the like.

Chess
You've played online chess before or with friends, but now it's time to take it a step further. The focus will be on openings and endgames with the goal of developing your playing skills.

Skating
Møre Skatehall is a perfect playground with 500 square meters to frolic in! You will find two ramps and a street section. You will work on pushing, turning and drop-in. Can you do your first Ollie?

Writing workshop
Are you looking to increase your writing enthusiasm? Maria Parr, the author of Vaffelhjarte and Tonje Glimmerdal, is ready to help you with that. She promises loads of writing fun, no matter your level. 

Squash
The school has a teacher who is a squash expert, and the squash courts are 50 m away. It's a good combo. The focus is on stroke technique and understanding of the game, and you can see the progress from session to session.

Stop Poverty
Every year, the students raise money for a project in Ilula, Tanzania. Last school year, nearly 650,000 NOK was raised. In this subject, you can help plan and carry out the work.

Sweets By Cecilie
You make French macaroons and other goodies. You work with imaginative decorations and experiment with taste and texture. Here you create your own tasty masterpieces.

Mountain bike
10 bikes are waiting for you who like to explore a spectacular “mountain-meets-sea” landscape. There are also great, technical trails nearby. The instructor has been a Swedish national team rider in Trial.

VGS subjects
This is for those of you who want to take up subjects from upper secondary school – either to enter further studies or just to improve an exam grade. Here you work independently and at your own pace.

Vocal group
The vocal group sings multi-part songs in various musical genres such as pop, jazz, musical or classical. Perhaps you will be challenged to be a soloist or conductor at a mini-concert.

Volleyball
There is a focus on technique, lots of play and learning different roles in attack/defense. It is a subject where you will see great progress both as a team and individually. In the spring you will participate in a tournament.

X-fit/strength
X-fit is inspired by the Crossfit training format and is a varied and functional workout, performed at high intensity. You train both strength and fitness. X-fit is good basic training – regardless of sport.

Yoga
A subject where physical activity and mindfulness meet. You will receive exercises that provide strength, flexibility, balance and relaxation, calm and presence. The yoga styles will be ashtanga, vinyasa and yin.
