In Sunnmøre there will be opportunities for filming in fantastic surroundings throughout the year. You will be able to join in on lots of hikes all around among spectacular peaks and razor-sharp mountains right out in the open sea. The combination of mountains and fjords provides backdrops that other filmmakers only dream of. That is one of the reasons why Strandafjellet Ski Center has such a high status in the ski film community.
In addition, you have 100 fellow students around you who are more than happy to do whatever you ask of them. That, combined with plenty of time, a passionate teacher, and equally passionate classmates, gives you a framework that you don't get in many other places.
In the online classes you will receive instruction that will make you a better filmmaker. Many films are good because they are a mix of shots taken at just the right moment, and shots that are carefully planned. The instruction covers everything from a good idea to the finished result, and thus embraces planning, training in the use of equipment and post-production.
Film is about the interaction between sound and image. When it comes to images, cutting, trimming, looping, speedup and slowmo are important keywords, in addition to adjusting light and colors, transitions and dramaturgical structure. When it comes to sound, you will work with music, speech and sound effects. In addition, the use of text is a component that you will be trained in.
The programs we use for editing are mainly Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Premiere Pro, in addition to Adobe After Effects. As a student, you will receive a school license for these programs if you do not already have them. There will also be courses in underwater photography and drone filming.
The most unique thing about the film offer on this line is that you get so much more. For a few weeks you will join the other classes on their programs and trips. Then you will be assigned to film a concert with the music class, a big football tournament with the sports class or make a portrait of a skater in the skate hall. And in the spring you will have plenty of time to make a documentary from an interrail-based tour of Europe.
Much closer, in the neighboring village of Volda, just 30 km away, there is a large college offering courses in Animation, Media Production and Outdoor Media Production. We will collaborate with them on some days during the school year.
Finally: This is a new line that we have not tested before. This means that you can help influence the content of the line based on your wishes and interests.
When the school year is over, our goal is for you to have filmed your best year yet!
